In the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election, Manhattan School District 114 had six school board positions available for election. There were four 4-year terms and two 2-year terms in which five candidates ran for 4-year terms and no candidates ran for 2-year terms. The Board of Education is accepting letters of application to fill the two 2-year term member vacancies. The individuals selected will serve on the Board of Education until the 2027 Consolidated Election.
Interested applicants must submit a written letter of interest to Superintendent Dr. Ron Pacheco at rpacheco@manhattan114.org by May 9, 2025. Letters should include a candidate's qualifications and will be reviewed by the Board of Education.
Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted to schedule an interview time. Interviews will be held at a Special Meeting of the Board of Education.
Applicants for the Board vacancy must:
Be a United States citizen
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
Be a registered voter
Not be a child sex offender
Not hold another incompatible public office
Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district
Not be a school trustee
Not hold certain types of prohibited State or Federal employment
Show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding the general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics, and gift ban. The Board’s policies are available on the Manhattan School District 114 website.
