The Manhattan School District 114 Board of Education has initiated the process to secure a replacement for Superintendent Dr. Ronald Pacheco, who will retire on June 30, 2025. District 114’s Board of Education and education consultant Cathie Pezanoski have developed the process and initial timeline for conducting the search for the district’s new superintendent. This page will be updated throughout the process.
1. Has strong effective people skills to build trusting relationships with all stakeholders with a focus on establishing clear processes of communication, decision-making, and follow through.
2. Is skilled in school finance and sound fiscal management practices; is creative and can think outside the box; can communicate effectively school finance decisions to all stakeholders.
3. Will create and maintain a positive culture of high expectations for students and staff and will hold people (including him/herself) accountable for expending their best efforts to ensure students are challenged to their capacity and prepared for their future along with ensuring the district is academically competitive in the region.
4. Is a visionary leader who is forward thinking, can inspire others, displays a collaborative work ethic, and provides focused guidance for staff, administration and the Board of Education.
5. Displays expertise in curriculum development and instructional strategies that empower them to lead initiatives that improve teaching quality, drive student achievement, and align with state standards and community expectations.
6. Easily interacts with all stakeholders but most importantly staff and students to understand what is truly best for all the learners in the district.
7. Becomes vested in the Manhattan School District 114 community and strengthens existing community partnerships while also creating new ones.
8. Embodies strong integrity and unwavering honesty to build trust and credibility within the community. As the leader of the school district, he or she will be responsible for upholding ethical standards and making decisions that prioritize the well-being and success of students, staff, and families.
9. Will be visible and approachable in the school as well as community and portray empathy and diplomacy without being confrontational when facing challenges from others.
